AGTA 3rd Place
Ron Lodholz was awarded 3rd place in the men's wear category in the prestigious 2011 Spectrum Awards. The Spectrum Awards are hosted by the American Gem Trade Association and are considered the benchmark of design awards for colored gemstone jewelry designers.
The cuff links that were chosen for the award were hand-fabricated using 18k yellow gold, 18k rose gold, and platinum. A unique pair of Umba Garnets cut by Clay Zava in a style he calls CD Cone, were chosen by Ron to use as the center piece for the cuff links. The stones are surrounded by 18k yellow gold. Ron used his bridges technique with platinum connections to build a glimmering suspension. The articulated button side of the cuff links is created from yellow gold and rose gold bridged again with platinum suspensions. The bridges design is a technique Ron has been working with recently and speaks to the need for authentic human relationship. The bonds of love, and friendship that we so desperately crave, each one pure and shining, strong and yet requiring attention and care, each relationship adds strength, diversity, and fullness to our lives. In the creation of these cuff links Ron captured the spirit of “Bridges”.
